Lately I haven’t been able to spend time looking for illustrations and I think it’s going to get worse, because my life sucks. I’m not killing this blog, but expect less posts and long periods without updates.

The good news is that now there are lots of paleo-blogs, and they upload everything I could post.

Off the top of my head, in no particular order:

>2000 followers!, PHASE ONE ACCOMPLISHED.

PHASE TWO: turning this blog into an online casino or anything evil and lucrative.

PHASE THREE: *** *** ******* *** ******

While I prepare the porn banners and such, I want to thank everyone for following and, of course, all the artists whose work I’ve shown here.

“Ammonite graveyard” by John Sibbick
“John Sibbick’s detailed interpretation of a graveyard of extinct swimming mollusks called ammonites. An acclaimed artist, Sibbick has even been honored with a newfound pterosaur named after him, dubbed Ludodactylus sibbicki.” boingboing

prehistoric-birds:

That was John Conway’s official Tumblr I just reblogged, by the way. He does lots of beautiful and accurate paleoart, including the Archaeopteryx in my current icon. Follow follow follow.

Must follow, indeed.

“Devonian Extinction” by Steve White:
“This was another piece for Australian publisher Weldon Owen. It features the giant armoured fish, Dunkleosteus, after making a kill. It is being mobbed by a number of early shark: several Cladoselache; a male ‘anvil shark’, Stethacanthus; and, lower left, Ctenacanthus. In the foreground a trio of the trilobite, Huntonia, forages through a reef of horn corals, brachiopods and sponges.”

Paul Heaston:

“Colorized and digitized the feathered T. rex I’ve been working on. Also fixed the perspective and posture of the legs, which really bothered me in the pencil sketch. More may yet be done on this one.”

Ha! I posted this a day before Chasmosaurs did!, that’s a surprise, because I often get ideas and content from that blog (but I try to credit him on the “source field”, I’m not an asshole).
I don’t think he even knows I exist, but the fact is that he wrote about the same subject and added a lot more of interesting information and photos. I you liked my post, you’ll love his, take a look.
EDIT: Niroot Puttapipat was kind enough to tell me that Chasmosaurs isn’t a one-man blog anymore: its three authors are David Orr, Marc Vincent, and Asher Elbein. The post I was talking about was written by Marc Vincent. Thank you guys for writing one of my favorite blogs.
